Zola Center Receives Radio Gift In Memory of K1NUN

The Irving K. Zola Center for Persons With Disabilities was awarded gifts of equipment and cash in memory of Eric Falkof, K1NUN (Silent Key) at a special meeting on December 14 at the Brigham House in Newton Highlands.

Mike Crestohl, W1RC, General Chairman of the New England Amateur Radio Festival (NEAR-Fest) and NEAR-Fest Forums Chairman John Flood, KB1FQG awarded a Icom D-STAR radio to the Center on behalf of the fledging radio club. Donna Suskawicz, KB1QVT, Director of the Zola Center, was on hand to accept the gifts, along with Eric’s widow, Nancy Falkof, KB1OCP; his daughter, Beth; and son-in-law, Matt Millstein. A cash gift was also presented to the group by ARRL Section Manager Phil Temples, K9HI on behalf of the Eastern Massachusetts section.

In Eric’s absence, local Newton amateur Bob Drukman, WA1UIY, has stepped forward to lead the club and its activities.
