The Hanscom Radio Club, a fairly new club at Hanscom AFB, is now active on the web.  We have a facebook page and now a new website (still under construction) but it gets out what we are up to.

The website has 2 domains, and they are:  k1afb.com  and   k1afb.org

We are looking for Yaesu System Fusion repeaters that can be clearly hit from a mobile running 50 watts or less from the nearest military installation to join our Armed Forces Amateur Repeater Network (AFARN).

The AFARN will be used for general amateur communications, health and welfare messages in time of natural disasters, or other events, general Nation Traffic System message handling, and staying in contact with your friends and family at your previous military location, or your home location.

All inquiries can be sent to info@k1afb.com, or they can call KA1GDQ’s Google Voice 508-658-2240 or they can call the Hanscom Radio Club’s NEXNET ext 4500.

FARA Fest details are shown on the FARA Fest Flyer.  A copy of the 2026 FARA Fest Flyer can be obtained at:

Eastern Massachusetts – Rhode Island STM Report for August 2026

The August Section Traffic Manager Report for Eastern Mass and Rhode Island is available at https://ema.arrl.org/eastern-mass-rhode-island-stm-report-for-august-2026/. (Note Western Mass has a new Section Traffic Manager, Eric Wilhelm, W1RVY. His report can be found at wma.arrl.org.) Take note of a new digital voice traffic net covering all New England. This net (NEDVTN), while an independent net, will operate using standard NTS protocol, will liaise with NTS traffic nets throughout New England, and is “another tool in the toolbox.”

Volunteers Needed – Cape Cod Marathon – October 11th, 2026

Barry, KB1TLR, writes on the BarnstableARC mailing list:

I need a driver, radio operator for one of the tired runner vans, would like another to help Charlie and Joan at net control; and I still need standbys for any position. It would probably be better if the standbys lived closer to Falmouth in case of the need for a last minute fill in. I have had things happen the morning before or day of the race and had to call up standbys.

If you would like more details or can volunteer, contact Barry via e-Mail.
