As April showers bring May flowers, I have been enjoying watching the daffodils and other spring flowers bloom and the buds on the trees begin to open up. I’m also anticipating the erection of a new tower and getting the antennas atop that tower in good working order. I suspect some of you are also looking to upgrade your antennas. This is an exciting time of year.
Dayton Hamvention is coming up in May and I’ve heard of several folks heading to Ohio for one of the biggest ham events of the year. Field Day in June will be here before we know it, and the convention at Boxboro in September as well and it is time already to make plans for those.
Not to be forgotten is the annual traffic handlers picnic which will again be held in Concord at the KW1U QTH on the traditional first Sunday of August. Set aside August 4 and plan to join us. Details will follow later.
Nets are going well. Conditions on 80 meters have got past the long skip of winter and signals have been much improved. Do join us on the HF nets. HHTN has seen a big boom in check-ins especially with the availability of Echolink. Speaking of Echolink, the West Mass 2 meter nets are also now accessible via Echolink. Look for the K1FFK repeater. The Boston 145.230 repeater has been experiencing some rough times during inclement weather but the EM2MN folks are a hardy group and deal with the uncertain conditions. I’m told the folks who maintain the repeater will be making some adjustments as soon as it is possible. CITN has also seen new check-ins and it is good to see that net doing well.
