Dear Friends,
Welcome to the Nantucket Amateur Radio Association web site. NARA members share in keeping this site updated with posts, pictures, and information pertaining to our activities so that anyone interested in Ham Radio and Nantucket Island can get a glimpse of what we do out here and join the fun.
While NARA keeps busy year-round with meetings, luncheons, event planning, training, experimentation, and outreach, Summer is our busiest season as more Hams are on-Island and Nantucket’s beautiful weather allows us to participate in more public outdoor events such as Field Day and International Lighthouse and Lightship Weekend (ILLW).
On August 20, 2022, NRA participated in the 25th Anniversary ILLW event, our fifth such outing at historic Sankaty Lighthouse. Using two HF radios and three antennas suspended from the lighthouse railing, we logged 37 contacts in fourteen states and one Canadian province – including six stations operating at other lighthouses as well as one station aboard the nuclear-powered ship Savannah moored in Baltimore, Maryland. The event was a great success, bring lighthouse visitors and amateur radio enthusiasts together in the spirit of commemoration. Our special thanks go to ‘Sconset Trust for NARA’s use of the Sankaty Lighthouse property.
Thank you for your interest in the Nantucket Amateur Radio Association. We are steadily growing and welcoming new members each year. Please contact us if you would like to get involved in Ham Radio and our club.
73,
Bob
