Biographical Information
George Allen, N1NBQ is the Nantucket County ARES Emergency Coordinator and RACES Radio Officer. He holds an Extra class license along with a commercial first class Radio Telephone Operator License (now called a General Radio Telephone Operator License).
N1NBQ got interested in electronics during high school when building a HO gauge model railroad and
found a need to wire the tracks for running multiple trains with separate control and direction. After high school, George completed a course of study in electronics with DeVry Technical Institute in 1955. He completed an electronics technician course from the Cleveland Institute of Electronics in 1963. He started a successful television sales and service business that operated for fifty years. During that time, George became a ham; he is currently an ARRL instructor and examiner.
George prefers operating emergency communications and SKYWARN. He is also into home brewing.
