Mark Duff, KB1EKN is the special operations DEC for Eastern Massachusetts and became Metro Boston ARES DEC in August 2022. Mark served 42 years as a member of the Hingham Fire Department from 1973-2015 in many roles including firefighter, fire lieutenant, fire captain, training officer, and Chief of Operations. Mark was promoted to fire chief in 2005 and retired in 2015. Mark also served as the Hingham Emergency Management Director from 1996-2015. Mark is a member of the Fire Chief’s Association of Massachusetts, Boston Sparks Association, and Bare Cove Fire Museum. Mark also serves as the current treasurer of the Blue Hill Observatory.
Mark has served for 2 years as a past Assistant Section Manager for Eastern Massachusetts. He was also past president and is a current member of the Boston Amateur Radio Club.
