Since January 2023 a group of traffic handlers, led by New England Division Director Fred Kemmerer AB1OC, have been working on improving and enhancing the National Traffic System. This effort was authorized under the auspices of the Emergency Communications and Field Services Standing Committee of the ARRL.
A website was created dedicated to providing information regarding the efforts of this group and can be found at https://nts2.arrl.org/. Information can be found there regarding training in message handling including the ICS-213 and other Emcomm agency messaging, promotion of NTS, new handling instructions, new ARRL numbered radiograms, a new web-based Radiogram Portal for use by the public and other amateurs for entering messages into the NTS, and more. New material is being regularly added as it is developed.
