Joe Chapman is ARES Emergency Coordinator for the city of Boston. He was first licensed as WD9ADL in 1976, and obtained his current call in 2011. He operates mostly QRP CW from his apartment near Kenmore Square in Boston, and also enjoys portable and bicycle mobile operating and satellite work.
Besides his involvement in ARES, Joe is a past President and the current Secretary of the Boston Amateur Radio Club and is a volunteer examiner and SKYWARN spotter.
Joe is a veteran of several computer hardware and software startup companies and currently works on storage optimization software in the Linux kernel at Red Hat. He is also a church organist and calligrapher.
