Licensed in 1979, Marc Stern, WA1R, became active with the former Radio Amateurs Interstate Weather Net, a VHF-FM voice net. Marc also worked with the Town of Framingham Emergency Management Office where he became RACES Radio Officer in 1983. He served in that post until 2001. From 1983 until 1990 Marc also served as EC for the Town of Framingham.
He is currently a DEC for HF in the EMA ARES organization. Always a supporter of public service events, Marc supported the Boston Marathon from 1981 until 2006 and again in 2013 and he is an active Skywarn spotter. Also, he has assisted many walks, 5K and 10K runs, the Marathon Walk, March of Dimes activities and more. From 1991 to 1992, he served as President of the Framingham Amateur Radio Assn. and he has held many offices in that radio club. He is an Extra Class Operator.
