MASSACHUSETTS – RHODE ISLAND STM REPORT FOR SEPTEMBER 2025

Sorry for the late posting of the September report. It did make QST in time so those who reported PSHR stats will see their call signs listed in QST. Keep in mind there is a lead time for QST, so September results will probably be listed in the December issue. Speaking of PSHR, note that category four in this report includes all public service activities, including emcomm exercises, fund-raising events for charities, etc. You can report five points for each hour or portion of an hour you participate. If you take part in a Skywarn activation that can be reported in category five, same five points per hour or portion thereof.

ARL NUMBERED RADIOGRAM TEXT 41 REASSIGNED TO ARL NINETY FOUR (94)

There has been a change in one of the numbered radiogram texts which had been listed on the NTS2 website as ARL 41. This provided for a response to an HXD handling instruction which requires any station handling that message to report to the station of origin, from whom the radiogram was received with date and time, and to whom it was either relayed or delivered with date and time. Apparently ARL 41 through 45 had been reserved for future use of welfare type messages. That text has now been reassigned as ARL NINETY FOUR. It is a “fill in the blanks” message, standardizing and shortening a response. This handling instruction is useful in tracing a radiogram through the network, but is not recommended for casual use as it could potentially clog the network. More info on the ARL numbered texts will be included in the upcoming November issue of The NTS Letter.  Updated list of ARL numbered texts on https://radiorelay.org/files/reference/ARL_Numbered_Radiogram_Texts.pdf and  (soon to be) on the NTS2 website at: https://nts2.arrl.org/numbered-texts/. RRI has discontinued use of RRC and will now use ARL for all numbered radiograms.
