New School Club Forming: Clay Center ARC

Clay Science CenterA new school radio club is forming in Brookline. The Clay Science Center at the Dexter and Southfield Schools in Brookline will form the Clay Center Amateur Radio Club. An application for a station license will be filed this week, according to Bill Mc Ininch, KA1MOM.

The club founders are: Bob Phinney, K5TEC, Dave Doe, K1HRV, and “Doc” Chamberlin, W1PFX. According to Mc Ininch, the station will be located on the 5th floor of the science center, with excellent height and access to a 5 kW solar array and one kW wind turbine.

“They have a couple of interesting items in their charter,” Mc Ininch adds. “Each new unlicensed member gets an Elmer, and any loaned equipment remains the exclusive property of the person making the loan.”
