Whitman amateurs netted valuable publicity in their local newspaper with an article describing hams’ participation in the recent joint state hurricane drill on June 4, 2007.
The story, entitled In the event of an actual emergency was published in the June 13, 2007 issue of the Whitman Times. The article was the result of a submitted press release by Bruce Hayden, NI1X, of the Whitman Amateur Radio Club. The article features quotes by Hayden and others; it describes the efforts of Whitman RACES operators as well as Citizens Emergency Reponse Team members.
