NVARC Members Support Parker Road Races

NVARC members at Parker Road Race, 2007Members of the Nashoba Valley Amateur Radio Club provided communications and coordination support for the Parker Road Races in Devens, MA on May 20, 2007.

The conditions were less than optimal; inclement weather threatened the event. But NVARC members helped by “making sure the course was set up prior to each race, the mile mark clocks were set at each start, and by tracking the lead and last runners/walkers.”

One of the hams literally saved the two-mile race event by “putting the runners back on the course” after a law enforcement officer turned the runners prematurely at the wrong intersection.

Participants included: KB1KEF, K1YTS, KD1LE, KB1ESR, KK1X, K1JHC, KD1SM and W1JMM.
