ARRL NEW ENGLAND DIVISION CABINET MEETING – JANUARY 8, 2022

On Saturday, January 8, 2022, ARRL NE Division Director Fred Kemmerer, AB1OC, along with NE Division Vice Director Phil Temples, K9HI, using Zoom met with division and club leaders throughout the NE ARRL Division. Fred announced these meetings will be held quarterly.

Meeting attendees heard presentations from Mike Walters, W8ZY, Manager of Field Services, and Steve Goodgame, K5ATA, Manager of the Education and Learning Department at ARRL Headquarters. Also presenting were Larry Krainson, W1AST, on preparations for a ham radio presence at the ‘Big E’ in October,2022; and Rob Macedo, KD1CY, on efforts to recruit volunteers for the Boston Marathon and an update on the National Weather Service/SKYWARN program in New England.

ALGONQUIN ARC FLEA MARKET, MARLBOROUGH, FEBRUARY 19, 2022

The Algonquin Amateur Radio Club will hold its Marlborough Flea Market on February 19, 2022, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the 1Lt Charles W.  Whitcomb School, 25 Union Street, Marlborough, MA.

Talk-in is on the MMRA repeater, 147.27+ (PL 146.2). Any COVID-related updates will be carried on the AARC website at <http://n1em.org>.

A VE session will be held beginning at 9:00 AM. General admission is $5.  Vendor tables are $15 before February 9, 2018, or $20 at the door if space is available. Each table includes one admission.

NE 2022 HAMXPOSITION

August 26-28, 2022

The Northeast HamXposition (a.k.a. ARRL New England Division Convention) organizing committee has confirmed the dates for the 2022 convention in Marlborough: August 26-28, 2022. The Committee notes that this was the original weekend for the event before they were forced into a September slot due to venue conflicts.

NASHOBA VALLEY ARC (NVARC) LICENSE CLASS

The Nashoba Valley Amateur Radio Club (NVARC) is offering a free amateur radio licensing course beginning on January 31st. The eight-night course will prepare students for the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Technician licensing exam that will be offered at the completion of the course.

This course is open to all, there are no age limits. Pre-registration is required, no walk-ins will be allowed. To register, contact Bruce Blain, K1BG, at (508) 341-5124 or via email at <bruce.blain@charter.net>.
