The YCCC is pleased to announce that its First Annual DXpedition Award Program has been funded for the 2004/2005 contesting season. The purpose of the program is to encourage new as well as young amateurs to participate in contesting. This a first time program for YCCC. The funding was raised via use of a raffle.

YCCC will award the winning applicant up to $1,500.00 to accompany for up to one week a YCCC authorized DXpedition/Contesting operation any where in the world, to operate in one of the four major contests (ARRLDX or CQWWDX CW or Phone). The award is to cover or help cover the costs of transportation, lodging and a stipend of $150.00.

Applicants must live within a radius of 175 miles of the Club’s center—Erving, Massachusetts. Further, applicants may fall into the youth category 14 to 21 or in the new amateur category being licensed for less than one year (no prior license). Both categories require a General class license or higher. The application period begins on May 1, 2004 and ends July 15, 2004.

One winner will be chosen and announced at the Boxboro Hamfest in August 2004. The winner must use the award within one year.

For further details and an application, please contact Jim McCobb, W1LLU at the numbers set forth above in the contact section.

The YCCC is a contesting club that has been in existence for more than 25 years. The area included in the Club’s territory includes most of New England, as well as parts of New Jersey and New York. The club has over 400 members and has been the proud winner of many contests, with primary attention given to the ARRL and CQ (magazine) DX contests.
