FIRST REGION CYCLE 2 NET TIME CHANGE to 1900Z and 2030Z

Per net manager K1EIC, effective Sunday, November 6 the daytime First Region Net will meet at 1400 EST (1900Z) and at 1530 EST (2030Z). The frequency remains the same, 3950 Khz +/- allowing for interference. 

Eastern Area Net afternoon session remains at 1930 UTC throughout the year with an exception three days per week during daylight savings time in order to liaise with the Central Area Net. Effective Sunday November 6 this session of EAN will meet daily at 2:30 EST.  The frequency remains at 7222 Khz +/- .

 

Eastern Massachusetts Hospital Net (EMHN) – Saturday 11/5/22 at 1000 AM EDT

On Saturday November 5, 2022, the South Shore Health Amateur Radio Group will hold an Eastern MA Hospital Net commencing at 10AM. We realize that the usual locations for some individuals and groups are still unavailable due to ongoing COVID restrictions. We encourage everyone who is affected by these restrictions to utilize their home or mobile stations to check into the net.

We will use the following repeaters and NEDECN DMR system in the order listed.

1. Plymouth Repeater 146.685 tone 131.8
2. Falmouth Repeater 147.375 tone 110.9
3. Sharon Repeater 146.865 tone 103.5
4. DMR – EMHN Talkgroup 8851 Time Slot 1 on select NEDECN repeaters:
Boston 449.175 CC1, Hingham 146.430 -1.5M CC1, Bourne 145.200 CC10, Dennis 146.470 -1.5M CC11, and Martha’s Vineyard145.180 CC10, Walpole 145.380 -0.600 CC12 repeaters
5. DMR Simplex 446.500 TG 99 both slots
6. DMR Simplex 145.790 TG 99 both slots
7. Return to Plymouth Repeater for Net closing.

NET Protocol: Please wait for Net Control to ask for Check-ins. When asked to check in please use the standard net check-in procedure which is: Here is.., un-key, wait 3 seconds to check for doubling, then give your or your facilities call sign, your first name, and your facility’s name.

We extend an invitation to any health care facility, EOC of any city or town as well as RACES or ARES members to check in during the NET. We are always looking for groups or organizations to try their hand at Net Control duties. If you are interested in trying your hand at Net Control please let us know. The goal is to rotate Net Control practice and the experience among as many individuals and groups as possible. We thank the repeater trustees for their generosity in allowing us to conduct these monthly nets and the use of their systems in an actual event.

“AeroNU Project Horizon Presentation” at Northeastern University Wireless Club, November 3, 2022

Northeastern Univ Wireless logoThe Northeastern University Wireless Club is hosting a special meeting with the AeroNU Project Horizon project on November 3, 2022 at  7 p.m. in 503 Hayden (club space).

The club will discuss its upcoming collaboration with AeroNU. AeroNU is launching a CubeSat, and NUWC is supporting the construction of a VHF/UHF satellite ground station to be hosted in the NUWC club space. The team from Aero will be presenting on their work, and the communication systems onboard. 

 

AB1PH: “Winlink” at the Framingham Amateur Radio Association Hybrid Meeting, November 3, 2022

Framingham ARA logoYou are invited to the next Framingham Amateur Radio Association meeting to be held on November 3, 2022 from 7 p.m. until 8:45 p.m. via Zoom and at the at the Costin Room in the main Framingham Library, located on Lexington Street. There is a parking lot next to the building. 
 
The program will feature Don Rolph, AP1PH, on Winlink.  Don has been involved with Amateur Radio since  earning his Novice license in 1961.   He re-licensed in 2012 and has been involved in support for emergency services in Eastern MA for about the same time.

    • a 440 repeater

    • an APRS digipeater
